Intel Core i5-14400F Desktop Processor – 10 Cores, 16 Threads, Up to 4.7GHz, LGA1700
Key Highlights
- 10 Cores, 16 Threads
- Up to 4.7 GHz Turbo
- No Integrated Graphics
- Flexible LGA1700 Platform
The Intel Core i5-14400F is a 10-core desktop processor built on Intel’s hybrid architecture, pairing two different core types to handle different kinds of work. Six Performance-cores run at up to 4.7 GHz and take on games and anything that depends on single-thread speed. Four Efficient-cores handle background load — Discord, browser tabs, Windows services, streaming software — so those tasks never interrupt what the P-cores are doing. Together that gives 10 cores and 16 threads.
This split is what makes the 14400F feel smoother than its core count alone suggests. In practice, a game keeps the fast cores to itself while everything else running in the background is pushed onto the E-cores.
The F suffix means there is no integrated graphics. For a gaming build with a dedicated card that silicon would sit unused anyway, so Intel removes it and lowers the price — which is why the 14400F is one of the better value gaming processors in its class. A graphics card is required.
It carries 20 MB of Intel Smart Cache, supports both DDR4-3200 and DDR5-4800 memory across two channels up to 192 GB, and offers PCI Express 5.0 and 4.0 with 20 lanes. Base power is 65 W with a maximum turbo power of 148 W, so a mid-range cooler and a quality 550 W or larger power supply are sufficient in most builds.
It fits the LGA1700 socket, covering Intel 600 and 700 series chipsets — B760, H770 and Z790 boards among them — so there is a wide range of motherboards to pair it with at any budget.
