The ASUS ROG Falcata is a 75% split wireless gaming keyboard built around ROG HFX V2 magnetic Hall effect switches. Its defining feature is physical: the right half detaches completely. Instead of forcing both hands together at the centre of the desk — which angles the wrists inward and rolls the shoulders forward — you can place each half at natural shoulder width. For anyone typing eight hours a day before a gaming session starts, that difference compounds.
The split also solves a gaming problem. Remove the right half entirely and the left stays put, clearing a large area of desk for low-sensitivity mouse movement. Players running 400 DPI who sweep the full width of a mousepad will immediately recognise what that space is worth.
Underneath, the switches are magnetic rather than mechanical. A Hall sensor reads the exact position of each key's magnet throughout its travel instead of waiting for metal contacts to close at a fixed depth. Actuation is therefore adjustable anywhere from 0.1 mm to 3.5 mm, and Rapid Trigger resets a key the instant you begin lifting — rather than at a preset point. Speed Tap Mode goes further, registering the newest input without waiting for the previous key to release, which is precisely what counter-strafing demands. Both are toggled in hardware.
Connectivity is tri-mode. ROG SpeedNova 2.4 GHz carries the full 8000 Hz polling rate, with 1000 Hz and 125 Hz options available, Bluetooth 5 handles secondary devices, and wired USB is there when you want it. Battery life is rated up to 610 hours, and five profiles are stored on board so your settings travel with the keyboard.
The board is built to be lived with. PBT keycaps resist the shine that develops on ABS over time, stabilisers arrive pre-lubed, and four layers of sound dampening keep the typing sound low and controlled. Removable silicone wrist rests ship for both halves, along with eight removable legs for tilt adjustment and two short USB-C cables for linking the halves when you want them joined. Per-key RGB across 16.8 million colours completes it. Switches are hot-swappable and rated to 100 million keystrokes.
